Lunchroom by Grade
Each month, parents from one grade will take the lead in helping out in the lunchroom.  Our goal is
6 parents each day from 11:45a-1:30p.  Parents are always welcome to help during another month in addition to their child’s grade.  Volunteering your time directs more school funds to your children in the classroom.

2009-2010 Schedule
November ~ 6th Grade
December ~ Kindergarten
January ~ 1st Grade
February ~ 2nd Grade
March ~ 3rd Grade
April ~ 4th Grade
May ~ 5th Grade
June ~ Everyone!

Each day PSI needs multiple volunteers to provide valuable assistance in the lunchroom, hallway and on the playground. Volunteer for some or all of the designated time, 11:45am-1:30pm.  Any time you can give is greatly appreciated!

Please be dressed appropriate for the weather in case you are needed outside. We also need help inside on rainy days as the kids still need to be monitored.

If you need to cancel or change your volunteer assignment, please remove yourself from the schedule.
Responsibilities:

After signing in at the main office, check in with Deb Probst. She will assign you to: help in the lunchroom; escort students to recess; supervise hallways; or supervise outside on the playground.  Whenever possible, please come prepared to be outdoors.

Lunchroom help involves assisting with student requests for lunch items, maintaining peanut-free zones, encouraging students to finish meals, and assisting students in wiping tables.

Hallway help involves ensuring student safety & assisting younger children with winter-wear.

Playground help involves being engaged with students outside and ensuring student safety.

*Remind your child ahead of time that when you come to volunteer you may only be able to say hi then go off to help where you are most needed.

*We are trained not to touch any bodily fluid per OSHA.  Please notify a custodian of any clean-up that may be required.

Sibling Policy

If you are picking up a Kindergarten-age student from class and want to volunteer, we encourage you to bring a lunch for your child and explain to her/him that you are there to do a job and that you will be assisting with all children who need help.  It may not be possible for your child to sit with an older sibling due to limited space at the tables.

If you find your child needs your attention and you are unable to complete your job in the lunchroom, please let Deb know and she may be able to re-assign you to another task.

If you have kids younger than Kindergarten age, please contact us for other volunteer opportunities at PSI.

Parents are welcome to come and eat lunch with their child, but please do not combine this special activity with your volunteer duty.
